This edition makes available the contents of an historically important manuscript from the muniments of Berkeley castle. St Augustine's was a house of Augustinian canons whose church was to become Bristol cathedral. The manuscript, compiled in the late 13th century is a handsome book of 221 folios in which are collected the title deeds to the abbey's estates.
The text of each charter is provided in Latin, preceded by a summary in English and with references to other surviving versions.
Note: Only good, secondhand copies of this book are available.
