The Sisters Long Barrow

From Professor Tim Darvill

Plans are now well advanced for excavations to continue at The Sisters Long Barrow on Abbey Home Farm near Cirencester in August 2022 and we are again able to welcome visitors to the site.

We have arranged two events that are open to individuals or group visits from local archaeological and historical societies. The afternoon event on the 17 August will include guided tours starting every half an hour, and if you would like to book one of those specifically for your group then do please let me know and we can set that up. The evening event on the 24 August will be a single tour but groups are very welcome to join in. These events are all free. (Details of the Open Day are here.)

I’m afraid we cannot accommodate group visits at other times as we have a small site crew and a lot of work to do. For individual visitors there is a display available to view during working hours (see the poster for details) but no public access to the excavation itself.

Hoping to see you at Sisters in August.
